Poker Rooms in Oklahoma

Oklahoma's poker rooms are entirely tribal — there are no commercial casinos in the state. Gaming operates under the federal Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988 plus the state-tribal compact framework that Oklahoma voters ratified as State Question 712 on November 2, 2004. SQ 712 established a model gaming compact that any federally recognized Oklahoma tribe could accept; in exchange for monthly exclusivity payments to the state, tribes were authorized to operate covered Class III games — including no-limit hold'em.

WinStar World Casino & Resort in Thackerville (just north of the Texas border) is the largest casino in Oklahoma, with one of the largest gaming-floor footprints in the United States. Reported figures vary by source — the property markets itself at 519,000 sq ft of gaming space — but it is consistently among the largest in the country by that measure. WinStar's 55-table poker room draws a substantial Texas-resident audience, a direct consequence of Texas's social-club legal structure pushing some Texas players to the nearest licensed casino room.

Choctaw Casino & Resort in Durant runs the state's flagship WSOP Circuit stop and is the second major southern-OK destination pulling DFW-metro players. In the east, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa (Cherokee Nation) and River Spirit Casino Resort anchor the Tulsa market. Riverwind Casino in Norman is the dominant OKC-area room. Cherokee Casino West Siloam Springs, Choctaw Pocola, Downstream, Grand Casino Shawnee, and Indigo Sky cover the rest of the state.
